DOROTHY J. BISTLINE
1922 - 2008
She was born on May 25, 1922 in Duncannon, PA, the daughter of the late Charles O. and Carrie E. Beers. She was a graduate of Marysville High School and Central Pennsylvania Business College.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph W. Bistline, a daughter, Jean E. and husband, Ronald K. Ream of Carlisle, a son Larry D. and wife, Glenda L. Bistline of Shippensburg as well as three grandchildren, Heidi R. and husband, Alan R. Guyer of Middletown, PA, Rodney S. and wife, Jennifer A. Bistline of Findlay, OH, and Maria B. and husband, David G. Schaszberger of Elizabethtown, PA. She is also survived by two sisters, Ina M. Keller of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Elizabeth I. Beers of Carlisle, PA.
She was a member of Landisburg Church of God where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir director, and worked with Vacation Bible School. She was involved for many years with the Pennsylvania Christian Endeavor, was a teacher of Good News Clubs and the treasurer of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Juniata, Mifflin, and Perry Counties, served for 10 years as treasurer of the Messenger of Mercy Missions to Kentucky. Along with her husband, Joseph, the couple was the recipient of the Eastern Regional Conference of the Churches of God 2008 Towel and Basin Award.
The celebration of her life will be held at the Landisburg Church of God on Water Street in Landisburg, PA on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Pastor Gary W. Shew will officiate. Burial will be in the Landisburg Community Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at the Landisburg Fire Hall.
